On Saturday evening local time, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) secured a dominant 5-0 victory over Inter Milan, claiming their first-ever Champions League title at the UEFA Champions League 2024-2025 final in Munich, Germany. Crowd trouble was reported in Paris as fans celebrated PSG's Champions League victory, and media reported that at least 81 people were arrested by the police following violent clashes in Paris.
The match marked the first meeting between the two teams in the competition. Inter Milan had previously won the Champions League three times, most recently in 2010 under the management of José Mourinho.
Chasing another Champions League crown, Inter rotated their squad in several matches toward the end of the domestic season, ultimately missing out on the Serie A championship by just one point.
Paris Saint-Germain had never won the Champions League before, but this year the club is on track for a historic quadruple, having already secured the domestic league title, national cup, and Super Cup.
To mark the occasion, PSG transformed its home ground, the Parc des Princes, into a dedicated fan zone with giant screens - drawing a crowd of approximately 48,000 spectators.
Social media footage captured violent clashes between baton-wielding police officers and crowds near areas where thousands of fans had assembled.
According to The Guardian, at least 81 people were arrested following violent clashes in Paris after massive crowds gathered to celebrate PSG's Champions League win.
France's interior minister, Bruno Retailleau, wrote on social media: "True PSG fans are getting excited about their team's magnificent performance. Meanwhile, barbarians have taken to the streets of Paris to commit crimes and provoke law enforcement."
